Dear Human Sound Design, Mix Engineer&nbsp; &nbsp; Phil RochefortGraphic Design/Illustrations Lucy RybickaFabrication, &nbsp;&nbsp; Double Effet Earth Room is a permanent interactive multimedia installation by Kelly Nunes and Nico Fonseca which explores the ways in which we relate to different facets of nature, and feel connected to all forms of life on Earth. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; From the iron crystals at the heart of the Earth's core to the solar winds that dance through the geomagnetic field, suspended in the balance are all Earthly life forms. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Earth Room is a space of myriad scale, where visitors assume the pose of earthly creatures, and have their perspectives filtered through teeming vegetation, spatialized nature sounds, and bespoke lighting objects. A variety of real plants and soil form the foundation for the multi-sensory component of the experience. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Interactive lighting and scenographic design elements combine to mimic magma, seismic activity, electrical storms, and the aurora borealis; while sound design and spatialization draw the visitors ears to the audible movements of nature. This therapeutic component of the experience is proven to lower adrenaline and cortisol levels in visitors suffering from stress.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Isochronic tones activate Delta, Theta, and Alpha brainwaves in visitors who engage with the various interactive animal poses, providing further relief from symptoms of anxiety . &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Through a process developed by Dear Human design studio, waste paper is reconstituted into “paper-tile’ and “paper-rock”, to form the majority of the materials used in the installation. Management&nbsp; &nbsp; MRATechnical Direction Mattieu Gagnon Lamarre The Black Hole Experience (BHX) is a mobile immersive experience presented by Age of Union and conceived by Dax Dasilva and artist Kelly Nunes that draws inspiration from the physics and spiritual properties of black holes.. Set inside a moving, maneuverable vessel, BHX is a one-of-a-kind exhibition set to appear at select outdoor venues across North America beginning in summer 2024; and is currently booking integrations at festivals, fairgrounds, city centres, museums, and universities. Installed initially in Montreal, this work has been transformed into a carbon neutral “eco-portal,” featuring light, sound, and 3D mapped projection. BHX offers an immersive reset uniting the awe and wonder of nature and the cosmos with meditative reflection. Through this mobile exhibition and multiple integrated projects around the globe, Age of Union hopes to ignite a flame within every person and inspire individuals to create high-impact change in the world. While every person’s experience of BHX will differ, all participants will feel a sense of interconnectedness with humanity, the environment, and the cosmos. 19-story LED wall of an iconic building in the downtown skyline, the InterContinental Hotel, as a digital canvas for performative architecture. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Inspired by Isaac Newton's theory that every primary color correlates to a musical note, NEWT is comprised of motion graphics synchronized to live orchestral performances of original music composed specifically for the experience. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Integrating mobile technology into this installation, audiences watching the building from afar can listen through their web enabled devices to the synchronized musical score. Every image and sound combines to evoke a heightened sensorial experience, and in turn bridges audiences through a shared experience that’s part site-specific, and part mobile. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; The immersive art experience was enhanced by pop-up events, performances and creative talks at local galleries and spaces in the Downtown Miami area. Sun Room https://kellynunes.com/Sun-Room Sun, 04 Jul 2021 17:51:34 +0000 Kelly Nunes https://kellynunes.com/Sun-Room Sun Room Immersive Environment Montreal, 2016 Conception and Direction Kelly Nunes &amp; Adam Hummell Commissioned by Never Apart Gallery Soundtrack Kelly Nunes &amp; Kevin Moon LED Programming Russell Vaz Permanent installation created as a functional room for healing and meditation, in response to the city’s dark winter days.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; A ceiling animated light sculpture is accompanied by Seasonal Affective Disorder light boxes for heliotherapy, within a room architecturally augmented to eliminate sense of depth and time by means of complete immersion. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; The room bathes in non-directional light enabled by curved&nbsp; walls and the elimination of corners, which minimizes shadows, and results in an even saturation of brightness and colour. The multi-tiered conical shape of the sculpture produces a hypnotic effect. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; A soundtrack was created to further the healing experience, with instruments tuned to 432 hertz, and eliciting sensations of reverence and diminutiveness. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; A four-foot diameter sphere is suspended from the ceiling and covered by a slowly rotating video of the moon, mapped seamlessly by four projectors. One of four walls is made of glass, which has been tinted to give the appearance from outside that the moon is a hologram. Various angles of view from inside the room looking out, and outside the room looking in, create the illusion that there are multiple moons. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; A forty-minute ambient piece supports the experience to extend the time of introspection. Midi and audio reactive software was developed to enable graphics to be modified live by pitch, amplitude, and ADSR filter envelope parameters. Rear projected video of colour graphics were driven by midi sent from multiple channels of CFCF’s laptop and keyboard.
